    Default Seal pups

As The Atlantic Greys are now starting to have their pups, how long before the pup is able to swim, do they have to moult first or are they like The Common Seal and able to swim a short time after being born?
Have checked several sites and don't seem able to find the answer hence the question as`saw a pup today.

Grey seal pups dont swim straight away. They will explore the water close to shore after a while but after they lose their white coat at around 3 weeks they then have to swim as mum then leaves them to fend for themselves, not sure of exact times when they start exploring but I think its around 2 weeks x
The nice thing about living in a small place is that if you dont know what you are doing....there's always somebody who does,or thinks they do! x
