I have one with www.one.com They seem to be the cheapest about at the mo and have online templates for web sites. They also have a chat room for support so you can talk to an advisor 24/7

I have www.wickblog.co.uk with them (still under construction) and a blog too www.blog.wickblog.co.uk (which I haven't updated in way too long!). Check them out if you want an idea of what you can do

Edit - first year free, subsequent years £64 pa. And you can have any site you want! You will have to pay for the good names though

It can be as low as FREE as there are plenty of Free Web Hosting sites out there. All you need to do is put up with an advert on your site.

Here is a link to my Wifes web site whch is a Free Web Site but she Pays £3.00 a Year to have the Adverts removed :-

Here is also a a Address for a Web Hosting that does charge but it is quite low only a few Pounds a year :-

If your just wanting to make a simple page there are several sites that offer free templates where you just edit the text to accommodate what you want.

I'm pretty sure their is a basic web design class at thurso college one night a week that covers html and css.

    Default Free Websites

Hi, there is of course www.spanglefish.com to look at, they are a highland company that offers this facility. The website is very easy to set up and there is a forum that can help with any problems that arise. Along with spanglefish you can look at www.cali.co.uk who can set up your domain name and also host your website. If you look at our website www.caithnessbedandbreakfast.co.uk to see what you can get.

If required pm me and I'll help further.

Thanks everybody lots of goodies to look at. I am hoping to sell online lots of pretty things and some unusual bits and pieces....but just do not have an inkling on how to go about it. Maybe some of the links will give me the answers.

A tip is to look at the results of them - some of the links to example sites. You will see the sort of quality you could get...

Also be careful of some of the sites - they give their own name plus your site name at the end. Not likely to come up in a google search (and doesn't look very professional). You can get your own web address for next to nothing too

If you are going to be selling, better with your own domain and paid hosting rather than a free site, because usually paid hosting has scripts which may be useful to you, while free sites don't tend to offer anything but the basics.

I'm with http://www.ukhost4u.com/shared-web-hosting, but have a business package, more for having the extra domains I can host than any great need for the business option. They have commercial scripts even with the basic personal packages and my main domain name came as part of the package.

Your wife's site looks interesting, Kodiak. Off to have a browse.
