Well said, why try to change it???????? Plenty to do and see albeit getting a bit overcrowded. However still a few open spaces without caravans, huts ect.,, don't need casinos and all that jazz about play whatever in the hangars, the younger generation have been totally spoilt already.

I can feel a petulant lip......

Scrabster Harbour is being re-developed in a different way - they are concentrating more on the business side, oil, renewables, cruise ships.

What would be great would be a bike trail that could be used for mountain biking and/or BMX it would keep the kids from doing it on the roads and would be a safer and more fun option x
The nice thing about living in a small place is that if you dont know what you are doing....there's always somebody who does,or thinks they do! x

Dog you are a fellow of infinite taste (or was it jest?).

    A bit of tweaking.

2: include three establishments in Wick

5: Dump the premier footie team and replace with something interesting.....

Apart from that, it's an excellent mix that will appeal to all.

Caithness is great as it is, I never have enough time to do all the things I want to do, neither does any of my family or grandsons find enough time in the day to take part in all the activities they would enjoy. But having said that what I would really like to see is an indoor sports centre similar to what they have in both Orkney and Shetland. What a difference that would make to the county. I wouldn't care too much about where it was situated as people would all be willing to travel to it. Was there not mention some time back about some sort of indoor centre being set up in Halkirk by an Andrew Sinclair?

i reckon a really good equestrian facility like colliemore would be good...... come on Ashleigh..... i'm voting for you!!

(not that I don't think the facilities we have are pretty good for where we are)

A separate cycle lane from Reay to JoG. (would benefit potential commuter cyclists to Dounreay from Thurso and is part of the CTC LEJOG cycle route)
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

Continuing on Rhegheads theme - one thing that we are lacking, that the rest of the UK has, is a Coastal Footpath.

Go to England or Wales and you can near as dammit walk around the coast, taking in all the spectacular scenery, unhindered. Because we have 'the right to roam' in Scotland, there has never been many established footpaths in the Far North.

So what happens at present is that although theoretically you can walk anywhere, in reality you cannot. As you are met with barbed wire topped sheep netting every 100 yards.

It wouldn't cost much (in the greater scheme of things) to open up a footpath from Helmsdale all the way round to Durness with waymarkers and stiles where necessary. The benefits to Tourism would be many and locals would be keen to use it...I know i would, I'm hacked off with ripping me walking trousers to bits on wire....

I really like that idea - we love walking but not so much the clambering over barbed wire
