I saw a man walk down the path to the shore
He was crying he was balling, I heard his roar
He was bitter, he was seething and he couldn't believe
That his lady friend took everything from him

Pointing up he begged the gods to forgive his sins
and the other hand he held two bottle's of gin
took a sip, took another until he fell and broke his collar
and he lay there like a sack of broken bones.

He got up and continued to stumble by
and again I could hear his horrid cry
"Mary, where you go, why leave me hear like this"
It hurt me to see him painfully go on.

His shouting went silent, I heard no sound
I them saw him fall back on the ground
Up again towards the sea and he did not stop
blaming Mary for this mess that he had become

I ran down the path towards the shore
He wasnt crying, balling anymore
He was freezing, he was shaking and I couldn't believe
How someone could leave him in this mess.

He didn't want my help and wanted to die
But its no in my nature to pass up help and walk on by
After that day the man I could not sight
but still I wake up and hear his screams at night
