    Default michael jackson memorial.

Did anyone watch this on 5 or cnn tonight, i had been watching coverage of it on cnn sine 5, just wish i could have been there.

what a service it was, tell you it brought tears to my eyes especially when jermaine sang smile, then his little girl paris said what a wonderful dad he was. what i also noticed was when the people paying their respects went down to see the family, most of them igorned michaels dad, did anyone else notice it or was it just me.

I watched it too and i have to say it made me feel rather ashamed of my previous comments with regards to MJ.
No matter what I feel about the unsubstantiated claims of abuse in Michaels life, this memorial sure reminded me of what an Icon he was and will always be.
At the end of the day he was a son, brother and father and deserves the respect that his family are honouring him with.
MJ played a very big part in the teenage life of many many people and I too remember the MJ of my childhood and will mourn and always remember the day the music died.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

I was fortunate enough to see the whole memorial service "live", as it was broadcast on TV. Although snippets of it were shown later on, I was glad I was able to see it before it was cut and analysed. I'm not ashamed to admit that tears were rolling down my face throughout much of it. It was a very moving tribute, and beautifully done. Seeing Michael's coffin in front of the stage was very poignant. Part of me was half expecting the lid to come flying open, at which point Michael would miraculously come alive and jump on stage, dancing along with his music and videos that were being played.

My only criticism is that Michael's two sons were chomping away at chewing gum just about all the way through, even blowing bubbles at times. I just don't think that was the time and place - if I could have reached through the TV screen and yanked it out of their mouths, I would have! The middle aged man who escorted Stevie Wonder to the piano was another culprit. But that aside, I thought the whole service was wonderful, and very fitting. I was touched by the lovely, heartfelt things that were said about Michael, words that made me even more aware of just how special this man really was, both as a performer and a person. I enjoyed the amusing anecdotes as well.

There was a big tug at my emotions as I listened to the beautiful tribute songs, especially when Jermaine sang Charlie Chaplin's "Smile", and when Usher broke down at the end of singing "Gone Too Soon", as he stood near the coffin. Of course the biggest tug of all was at the close of the service, when Michael's daughter Paris said her dad was "...the best father you could ever imagine" and that she just wanted to say that she loved him so much. Believe me, I was sobbing along with her - bawling my eyes out, in fact!
I am living for today, always remembering yesterday, and looking forward to tomorrow!

a complete waste of money, for goodness sake he was a singer and a pedo no better than gary glitter, typical, you lot forget when you all cursed him on here for being what he was and now hes some sort of demi-god,

let him die and bury him and move on, another one just like him will be in the news next week for doing awful things to the kids, yet bought his freedom from crimes he committed and you still thnk he great

I find your comments totally disrespectful. Give it a rest and allow those who appreciated Michael Jackson the chance to comment on what this thread is all about - his memorial service.

You're completely entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
I guess I'm one of the ones that was quick to judge MJ and was very vocal in doing so.

For me, it was just watching the memorial service. It reminded me that no matter what the innuendo, the accusations or the dirt that was dished on him, he was still someones son, someones brother and someones father and thinking like that helped me to respect the fact that millions are mourning him.
No one can say that he wasn't a legend in his own right. His music and indeed his dancing was the inspiration to many many people from musicians to average Joe Bloggs.
He deserves a decent send off for those reasons if nothing else and the people who spoke at the service knew a MJ that none of us ever had the privilege to know.

As for the Abuse accusations, I do still believe that there's no smoke without fire. We'll never truly know the truth behind the claims, the pay off or what really happened. Because of this lack of definite knowledge or proof I believe that I should not be so quick to judge him.

I would not condemn you for having your beliefs or opinions though and although some may find them disrespectful, I actually don't.
I'm not suggesting that I've 'seen the light', I can just admit when an opinion of mine serves no purpose and when it has no definitive grounds of fact.

So how do you know what the truth is? Oh right, I forgot, you read it in a newspaper. They always tell the truth.

The truth is buried along with Michael, end of story.

I thought the service was very moving and a fitting tribute to a mega star. He touched many hearts in all walks of life throughout the world. The fact that he was in the Guiness Book of Records as the person who supported the most charities in the world shows what a true humanitarian he was. The music and dance clips shown of him throughout his life proved to me that he still had so much more to give to the world. He was a genius and shall live on in his music. RIP Michael.
