    Am I right? Golden plover in breeding plumage?

    I'd be saying yes in view of the head shape and that the only similar bird is a Grey Plover which is not native.

    If its profound what was the name of the golfer and what did he find?

    Golden plover without a doubt - probably with small chicks this time of the year. In the second picture it looks like it might be calling (alarm calling?).

    Yup, they were calling - there were three or four adults darting around, all trying to divert me from their nests (which I didn't see but they must have been pretty close to the path I was walking on).
