Caithness Moths - Silver Y
The Silver Y is closely related to the Beautiful Golden Y but is a migrant to the UK which first appears in Caithness in the summer with a significant influx again in the autumn. It breeds in the south of the UK but the larva only rarely survive the winter so that most of the moths we see are immigrants. It can often be seen flying in the day taking nectar from flowers.
