Caithness Moths - Beautiful Golden Y
The Beautiful Golden Y lives up to its name with the golden "Y" and close by dot contrasting with the dark background and, in this fresh individual, the splash of metalic pale green towards the outer edge of the wing as though someone has brushed a wet paint brush across the wing. It is on the wing now and will be with into July. Among other plants the larva feed on common nettles, yet another reason for leaving a patch of that useful plant in one's garden.
