Caithness Moths - Small Phoenix
The Small Phoenix has two forms, the one pictured here and one in which the dark central band across the forewing in broken by two white lines. This is a male indicated by the way the abdomen is held upward when the moth is at rest. It can be found in a wide range of habitats including gardens but is most numerous in woodland.
