Caithness Moths - Pebble Prominent
The Prominents take their common name from the projections on the forewings which are raised over the back when the moth is resting with its wings closed. This feature shows clearly on this picture of a Pebble Prominent one of two caught in my garden this week. This species is just starting to fly in Caithness and should be around into July.
