Caithness Moths - Dark Sword-grass
This large moth is not spectacular to look at but is interesting because it is a migrant to Britain from Europe and breeding here has never been confirmed. I had two in my garden in April during the period when we experienced sustained easterly winds, one arriving just prior to the Red-rumped Swallow in Thurso. Amazing that such a small creature can survive ocean crossings.
