    Was photographing this....

When to my surprise this ran down an adjacent tree - he seemed to be keen to see what I was doing

Not an expert, but I believe it's a male chaffinch.

Lovely pics and so nice to see a red squiggle.

Spotted this small tortoiseshell sunning itself yesterday:

Lovely butterfly pic - haven't seen any myself this year yet, but hopefully a good summer will see them plentiful.

The detail in the Chaffinch is amazing. May I ask what size of zoom lens you used to take it?

40-150mm kit zoom lens was used at full zoom. This equates to 300mm equivalent with the 2x factor on my Olympus. I was lucky enough to be quite close and he obliged by posing for me for a good few seconds.

Astroman, exactly the same thing happened to me but I was initially photographing a Robin when I heard a bit of noise from above. I initially ignored it as I was edging closer and closer to the robin. This isn't my initial photo of the squirrel but I tried for a while. Very difficult as they are so fast.

I will say though I was hoping to see them.
