    Default Quantum of Solace

I watched this earlier today, I pre-ordered and it arrived early.

Wont give any direct spoilers away for those who haven't seen it but I think it is one of the best Bonds out there, it is not as good as Casino Royale but then it would have to go some to do that. Bond is on a major mission on this one and Daniel Craig does a brilliant job of playing a Bond that is close to what Fleming portrayed him as in the original Casino Royale book. Cold blooded doesnt even being to describe him in this one although I feel the plot was bit thin in that it seemed to be trying to make a political statement and the bad guy is just a total wimp, he couldnt scare a child. Saying that it starts fast and just doesnt let up and the car chases are just awesome. Oh, and the two girls are easy on the eye too .. yummy.

Looking forward to the next installment, I think Daniel Craig is an excellent Bond but I would like to see him mellow a little bit in the next one.

I have to say I was very disappointed in Quantum of Solace. I loved Casino Royale and I too think Daniel Craig is a superb Bond! I thought the beginning was fabulous - using the circular theme! I was fed up wi him droppin his gun tho! LOL! Yer right the baddie is rubbish - usually they have something attractive about them even tho they are evil. I will watch Q of S again tho as no doubt it will appear as a DVD in this house so I hope I enjoy it better. I still look forward DC's next outing as Bond tho!

Its not bond for me. No tongue in cheek humour, no fancy gadgets and no over the top evil genus. its a good action film but i would prefer to watch a bourne film for action.

I am reading Casino Royale now and Daniel Craig is pretty close to the heartless and calculating Bond that Fleming wrote. The reason the Bond franchise was failing before CR was because it looked so old and dated, it had to be brought up to date really.

QOS could have been better in some ways but I reckon it still stands up there, the problem was it was following CR which was a stormer of a film.

I cant even bring myself to watch the old Bond movies unless they have Sean Connery in it. Roger Moore as Bond ?? .. please. He has all the menace of a pancake and about the same level of emotion.

Just saw it the other day and found it very disappointing. It seemed like it was just to set the ground work for the next film in the series.

Absolute Tosh! Bought the DVD from Tesco and am glad I only paid seven quid for it. Although even that is too much.
A real disappointment after the first one.

I didn't see Casino Royale because there was one years ago with David Niven that was rubbish. Obviusly I made a mistake.

This film is not a Bond movie, once I got past that it was an okay film. But Bond without gadgets and crazy villians? Naah, it's like the Simpsons, the characters cannot be allowed to grow up IMO

The older style of Bond movies were being lampooned in films like Austin Powers, they had become a joke to younger people.

Some older Film's stand up on their own, Blade Runner for instance. But no one is going to pay to watch a baddie who kills people with a bowler hat these days. And quite frankly I seriously doubt that Roger Moore could get a woman he hadn't paid for beforehand.

Did anyone notice the location in Casino Royale that was in a previous Bond movie ?? ..

Forgive me for coming back to you on this but they were always a joke - fantasy like Indiana Jones (who incidentally flunked out last time too IMO).

I think sometimes the pros get it wrong. Consider how Mama Mia was slammed by the critics but turned out to be the biggest hit musical film for years. I confess, I enjoyed it. It was rubbish (not credible, unbelievable characterisation etc. etc.) but worth the ticket for the good feeling it left me with.

Take a really good movie like Syrianna, excellent crits and a lot to think about but you hardly walk out of the theatre smiling and wanting to grab a burger or an ice cream.

I suppose I'm saying you should get what you expect from the brand. If you walked into McDonalds or Burger King and were ushered to a table with a cloth by a dark suited waiter proffering a wine list and a menu in French it would, at the very least, be disconcerting

Mellow...please no...love the fact he is deep, troubled and old school macho. Bring it on...I LOVE BOND....prefer it to the way Messrs Connery & Moore played him quite camp and tongue in cheek, although I did love those films too.

I'm a life long Bond fan and Quantum Of Solace is an excellent installment of the franchise, the Daniel Craig fronted Bonds are the best there have been for a long time, the last of the Pierce Brosnan movies, 'Die Another Day' was an absolute travesty so it's good to have a 'different' Bond in Daniel Craig.

I have not seen this film and I do not want to. I saw Casino Royale with Daniel Craig and I thought he was terrible as James Bond and due to this I do not want to see this film.
