Here's one from my granny for her pancakes:-

    4 oz of sr flour
half a tablespoon of sugar (ordinary does but granulated is much better)
knob of marg (not a great big lump)
    1 beaten egg
    1 teaspoon syrup
    1 teaspoon of baking powder
    milk

melt the marg and syrup and cool slightly, mix flour, sugar and baking powder, add the egg then add the milk and stir well. Don't ask me how much milk, you just get to know the correct consistency!! Mine turn out fantastic every time so good luck!!! By the way I use the base of my electric steamer to make mine in as I don't have a girdle.
