Excellent photos MPH. I've taken a few of the Moon myself during the past few days - the weather has been too good not to take advantage .

Haven't had the chance to do much with them yet though - hope they turn out as good as yours.

Ty Liz & Astroman,Felt guilty for lazing about earlier on a missing out on a good night so
had a go at Saturn and its moons. The brightest one is a star, the rest are moons.

Was just going to post the same thing. Great minds eh? Or could it be fools?

    Here's my latest effort.

Thought I'd have another go via my new Canon 70-200mm with x2 convertor (at 400mm). This is at 100% image zoom.

Also tried for the first time with mirror lock-up enabled. What do you think.

Those are absolutely amazing shots. Can only be a few more nights before we have a full moon. Around 6 tonight the sky was crystal clear and the moon looked awesome. Thanks for posting them.

    Great shot Deemac.

The use of mirror lock-up and remote shutter release/ timer delay can often make a big difference when photographing at long focal lengths - I use it all the time when the camera is attached to the scope.

    Default Lunar Surface Detail

Here's a few pics from the 4th and 5th March showing some of the finer surface details along the terminator (the division between the illuminated and dark parts of the moon).

    Montes Apenninus region

Prominent crater Copernicus (can be seen left of centre in Deemacs photo)

Region around craters Tycho and Clavius
