This is my favourite region of the moon, the mountains are spectacular through the scope at high mag.
Rather than me bore the hips of you all telling you names, if your interested in the names of the craters, seas etc here is a handy link

Excellent photos MPH. I've taken a few of the Moon myself during the past few days - the weather has been too good not to take advantage .
Haven't had the chance to do much with them yet though - hope they turn out as good as yours.
Ty Liz & Astroman,Felt guilty for lazing about earlier on a missing out on a good night so
had a go at Saturn and its moons. The brightest one is a star, the rest are moons.
How cool to see the ring around Saturn - TY MPH for posting!
Once again truly fantastic shots MPH
Awesome stuff MPH...
Brilliant shots...
Thanks everyone, nice to get clear skies, just wish we could get clear skies to coincide with no moon.
Here's my latest effort.
Thought I'd have another go via my new Canon 70-200mm with x2 convertor (at 400mm). This is at 100% image zoom.
Also tried for the first time with mirror lock-up enabled. What do you think.

In a word Deemac......WOW! you must be chuffed yourself!
Those are absolutely amazing shots. Can only be a few more nights before we have a full moon. Around 6 tonight the sky was crystal clear and the moon looked awesome. Thanks for posting them.
Fabulous Deemac!
Great series of shots both.
Here's a few pics from the 4th and 5th March showing some of the finer surface details along the terminator (the division between the illuminated and dark parts of the moon).
Montes Apenninus region
Prominent crater Copernicus (can be seen left of centre in Deemacs photo)
Region around craters Tycho and Clavius
Amazing close ups astroman!
