The Host is pretty good, as long as you don't mind subtitles. Most the the Studi Ghibli films are excellent (the same people who did Spirited away) Hellboy 2, much better than the first one!
Slither is another odd but funny film. 28 days later is brilliant.
I am sure I will think of more!

I have been watching a lot of movies lately and can heartily recommend the following for a good way to waste an hour and a half or so ..

Zulu, Taken, Brokeback Mountain, Shawshank Redemption, The Departed, Casino Royale, The Bourne Trilogy, Iron Man, Batman Returns, The Dark Knight, No Country for Old Men, There Will be Blood, Wall-e, Zodiac, Donnie Darko, Unforgiven, 300, Blade Runner.

Zodiac in particular stands out as it follows a real life case of a serial killer, Jake Gyllenhall puts in a stunner of a performance. Its a bit long but it is one of those movies that just grabs you.

Wall-e was also brilliant, I have it on Blu Ray and the picture quality is out of this world. And as I work with a woman called Eve it gave me the excuse to call her up and go "EEEvvvvaaaaaaaa" down the phone. That just doesnt get boring ..

But I would avoid the new Indian Jones film .. its rubbish.

Mmmm...I have Zodiac. It contains on eof the most unpleasant murder scenes I've ever seen. Accurate I'd imagine - as it should be. Murder is not nice....nor should it be dressed up or sanitised. I understand people don't usually die easily when attacked. <shudder> ...I'm a fan of David Kronenbourg...another director who also shows the consequences of violence and does not gloss over it's effects. (History of Violence:Eastern Promises)

Zodiac a wordy, worthy film with no real conclusion - I think this is why it's not as popular as it might be. Well worth a look. Thanks for reminding me I have it - I'd almost forgotten.

I must differ with you on that one, GH. My husband, sons and myself all loved "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"! We enjoyed it every bit as much as the previous Indiana Jones movies. I have to admit I was a bit sceptical before it came out. I wasn't sure if the aging Harrison Ford could pull the role off as well as he did in his younger days. But by gum, he did! I have nothing but respect for the man. Here he is in his mid sixties, yet he performed many of his own stunts! Karen Allen, who was his former side kick in "Raiders of the Lost Ark", was also amazing, and she's in her mid fifties.

The storyline was great, with all the thrills and excitement of the first three films. Cate Blanchett was superb as the villainous Soviet agent Irina Spalko. We enjoyed the movie so much at the cinema, that we later bought it on DVD.

I have seen 2 versions of Zodiac, i have the version with Jake Gyllenhaal as leading role. But i do rember watching another version, i think it might have been Zodiac Killer but im not sure, plodding through imdb right now to see if i can find it.

But the version with Jake Gyllenhaal is very well put together i thought. I did however have to watch it a couple of times to pick up on all the details because there was so many.

The Postman 6/10. Kevin costner in a Post-apocalyptic America who as a scam pretends to be a postman to get food. He takes on a young boy who starts to spread the news and the postal service resumes. Its a good film the didnt do well with the critics, I found it entertaining though a bit sickly sweet in places but over all a good film.

I then went on to watch Dances with Wolves which is still one of his best and my fav films.

I've watched Evolution tons of times and still laugh really hard every time!! There are so many funny bits in it I can't pick my favourite!! Most recent film I saw at the cinema was Bolt - good kids film, would recommend it, especially if you're a dog lover. Saw Madagascar 2 in cinema before that and loved it!! Also Wall-E - brilliant film, kids totally loved it. I wish I had a friend called Eve so I could call her EEEVVVAAA down the phone too - Gene Hunt!!! Do feel rather sorry for your friend though!!

Evolution .. must see if I can get a copy of that and watch it again as it is well funny !!, picking up some good pointers for future viewing on this thread.

I watched a favourite film of mine earlier today called "Vertical Limit", all about a failed expedition on K2. Brilliant cinematography and some good one liners in it.

    "Whats up with her ??"

"Oh she's French Canadian, sometimes she is French and sometimes she is Canadian .. today she's French"

And while I remember, and its not really a film but the series "Planet Earth" is my favourite viewing just now. I have it on Blu Ray and it looks amazing. Hard to believe that in a few years some of the species in it will only be able to be seen on screen.

I have just finished watching 'Number 23' starring Jim Carrey. I was not sure about the movie when i saw the trailers, but goodness it was gripping.

From the way the story un-folds its very well thought out and put together. A few bits in the movie that maybe could have been played better but no major complaints.

I am not a huge fan of Jim Carrey but he has the personality that is able to hold a role like this.

It was weird how they figured out how everything came to the number 23, a great deal of thinking must of gone into this.

It completely had me paranoid the whole way through about the 'number 23'. If nobody has seen this then please watch it, well worth a look.

I give it an 8/10. Would have made a 9 but i felt a couple of scenes were not necessary and instead could have included some different links to the story.

If you have not seen it you must watch The Prestige. It is such a good film, with a mjor twist at the end. It stars Michael Cane, Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale.
