Here ya go, kids...

"Tennent’s Lager are now accepting demos for T Break 2009. Once again we are looking for the freshest unsigned talent to play the T Break Stage at T in the Park. You can upload your demos at www.tbreak.co.uk. Our panel of industry experts, including our partners at DF Concerts, BBC Radio 1, HMV and PRS will work to select the 16 most exciting to showcase at the T Break Stage at T in the Park 2009 where they will share a bill with Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol, Blur, The Killers and many more still to be announced.

T Break has been working with new Scottish talent since 1996 and is now an established and well-respected highlight of the Scottish Musical Calendar. T Break is a Tennent’s Lager initiative which over the past decade has worked to support thousands of aspiring musicians such as cult-heroes Biffy Clyro and Attic Lights, who regularly acknowledge the support from T Break as they worked to launch their career, facilitating introductions to music lovers and fans nationwide.

T Break is open to any unsigned musical act resident in Scotland, provided they are over the age of 18, and performing original material.

All entrants should visit www.tbreak.co.uk for full details on how to submit their work. Musicians will be invited to upload their demos via the website (or alternatively they will find instruction on how to make a postal submission.) The deadline for submissions is 15th April 2009.

All submissions will be heard by the T Break judging panel, made up of representatives from Tennent’s and their partners at DF concerts, Radio 1, HMV and PRS

Back in October, unsigned acts were invited to attend a T Break Seminar day at The Arches in Glasgow to hear advice on how to perfect their demos ahead of this year’s call for demos. The advice is featured on the T Break website www.tbreak.co.uk where videos of the speakers can be downloaded for anyone who missed the day.

George Kyle, Head of Sponsorship at Tennent’s says; ‘We’re looking forward to hearing from Scotland’s freshest unsigned talent again this year. Each year we are amazed by the passion there is throughout Scotland for making new music and we are proud to be able to give those aspiring musicians a platform at T in the Park on the T Break Stage. We look forward to hearing what’s out there this year and welcoming those 16 bands to T in the Park.’

Dave McGeachan of DF Concerts adds: “People always ask why there is such a strong music scene in Scotland and why so many bands achieve major success – initiatives like T Break are one of the reasons. Securing a slot on the T Break stage at T in the Park has become a must for emerging Scottish acts, so the competition is always fierce. I’m looking forward to seeing yet more fantastic live talent take to the stage at this year’s festival”.

Vic Galloway of Radio 1 in Scotland continues: “Having supported it for years on Radio 1, I'm delighted to get right behind T Break 2009. It never fails to astound me how many applications T Break gets, and how difficult it is for the judges to make the final decision on who plays at the festival. Good luck everyone who enters this year! It's always a highlight of mine at T in the Park to visit the tent and see the sheer quality and diversity of Scottish bands. Mainstage headliners Snow Patrol started right there, as did many other quality bands further up the bill in different tents. I'd encourage anyone who has a ticket to T in the Park, to take a stroll off the beaten track and support the stars of the future!”

And Jason Legg, of HMV-T Break’s digital partner: “HMV are committed to bringing people closer to music and T Break has an unrivalled history of breaking fresh new talent. We’re excited about helping to support T Break again this year.”

Full details on T Break are available on www.tbreak.co.uk where the entry process is streamlined to enable bands to upload their demos and details simply via the website. The site also features information on the Scottish music scene in general with articles and podcasts featuring advice from industry insiders on making the most of your talent.

T Break History

T Break has been supporting new Scottish Talent since 1996 and is now an established and well-respected highlight of the Scottish Musical Calendar. T Break is a Tennent’s Lager initiative which supports Scottish music at grassroots level and gives up and coming unsigned talent an opportunity to play in front of a wide cross section of music industry judges, A&R representatives, and dedicated music fans.

Since 1996, the best unsigned artists in Scotland have been dazzling us with their demos, with some now familiar names having played the showcases. Bands like Biffy Clyro, The Cinematics, Lizard King’s ‘Drive-By Argument’ and Island’s hottest new signing ‘Attic Lights’ (to name a small few) all came through T Break, and the talent continues to impress judges and audiences alike."
