    Default LCD tv broken

Hi i bought a lcd 32in tv about 2 years ago. Ive had no problems with it in the past but now it keeps turning itself off! Does anyone have an idea of what it could be, or know of anyone how would fix it and not charge a fortune? Id be grateful for any suggestions thankyou

I wasn't going to pipe in on this one as I know little about TV's, however I've seen this happen on the older tube type TV's.

It was a dry / bad solder in the little power box in the back of the TV. When the TV heated up enough the power used to get cut. It would do this every 30 seconds or so - on an LCD TV the power draw is less so it may take a bit longer.

Obviously this is only a 'it may be this as I've seen it before' rather than a definitive diagnosis but I hope it helps a little.

Thanks for your reply, it is doing exactly what you have described. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to fix or know of anyone who would fix it? Dont want to invest in a new tv just yet!

If it is that it should be easy enough to fix (or so I was told - in the end our TV didn't get fixed). There is an electrical place in Thurso from memory that would do it (near the Police Station). Best bet is to check www.caithness-business.co.uk

    Default LCD tvHi

Hi there thanks for your reply. My wee toddler always manages to get her hands on the control, infact she broke the end off it! I will check the timer cos it might be the problem. Its just so frustrating, sit to watch a programme then tv just turns off. We have put tv upstairs now untill we can get it fixed, but might not have to if your solution is right
