Thread: First Flower of the Year

  1. #1

Default First Flower of the Year

The first flower I have photographed this year is the Winter Heliotrope (Petasites fragrans). Several sites have disappeared, so this one, in the hedge below the Park Hotel in Thurso (on the rugby ground side of the road) is the only one I know about. It differs from the White Butterbur by having smaller rounder leaves and finer flower stems and the petals are mauve to white. Is there any more anywhere?
Sorry folks, I can't get the picture to show!

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Nor me. But, like all flowers this time of year one has to use one's imagination.

Hi, Count - I meant the one below which works when you click it but doesn't work when I put it into the "post a picture" icon. What am I doing wrong?
