    Default Astrophotography with a difference

Not sure if macro photos of space rocks strictly speaking counts as astrophotography, but here are a couple anyway. These rocks (and others) were obtained on loan for use during the Science Festival Week.

Part of the Henbury iron meteorite showing the Widmanstatten pattern...

Part of the Imilac stony-iron meteorite....

Part of the Parnallee ordinary chondrite clearly showing chondrules and the external fusion crust formed by heating when it plummeted through the Earth's atmosphere....

Brilliant stuff astroman. Amazing to see these... great detail and patterns.

It just blows me away to think of where these rocks have come from and the journey they`ve been on.

Fantastic patter(s) on the first one. I`m off to google "Widmanstatten pattern"

    Thanks for posting.

Interesting images, the patterns in the first one are fascinating.
