I noticed a thread for bandanas for dogs, for the labradoodle charity. Good work and well worth the donation of buying one, but for those who may feel the need like myself to make my own bandanas for tank here is the simplicity pattern which you can use for any material, This one is for a christmas one but any material can be used.
This is copied from the following link.http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?...petProject.cfm
You will need:
Cutting Instructions:
- Red Polar Fleece – 3/8 yard (34.5cm) for large dog, 1/4 yard (23cm) for small to medium dog
- 1/8 yard (11.5cm) White Faux Fur Fabric
- 1” (2.5cm) strip of 1/2” wide Velcro
- One 1 1/2” (3.8cm) White Pom-Pom
1. Cut a rectangle from the red fleece as follows: Measure around the dog’s neck and add 2” (5cm); for the top and bottom of the rectangle. Divide this number in half to get the measurement of the rectangle’s sides. 2. Fold the fleece in half lengthwise, matching the two sides. Mark the center on the bottom of the rectangle. Draw two lines from the upper corners to this marking to create a symmetrical triangle. Cut out the triangle. 3. Cut a strip of the white fur that measures 3” (7.5cm) longer than the top of the fleece bandana by 4” (10cm) wide. Sewing Instructions:
1. With RIGHT sides together, fold the fur strip in half widthwise and pin in place. Stitch the two short sides together in a 1/2” (1.3cm) seam allowance. Turn right side out. Fold each of the raw edges under 1/2” (1.3cm) and baste. 2. Sandwich the fleece in between the two basted sides of the fur strip, centering it. Pin in place. Stitch through all thicknesses, 1/4” (6mm) from basted edges of fur. Stitch pom-pom to the bottom point. 3. Stitch Velcro to each end of fur.
