Strange one

Anyone know what kind of spider this is?Bright orange in colour,with white strip along it's back,about 12mm-20mm in length,you can see a wasp in it's jaws which gives idea of size.Pic was taken today outside A & D at wick glass factory.

From the shape of the web and if the coloured bands on it's legs are repeated across the back, would think it's a common garden spider, they can grow quite large and are n't fussy about what they eat that becomes trapped in the mesh.

Think you are right.looked up on the web(no pun intended)and it looks like the garden spider.

Including her little husband if he not careful when he enters the web to mate, this one looks like she has mated. (And certain can give a good bite however its harmless to humans)
The white bits on their back are formed by deposits of one of the necleobases found in DNA so it makes them a good sources of potein. If you watch them at night they eat their webs and do a new one in the morning.

my dad also had one of these in his garden, he took pics as it looks so unusual will try to upload them
