Caithness honeysuckle

Sweet the fragrance from blossom pink and gold,
Through the forest,cross the field and fold.
It's curling petals reach out to the sun,
It's tendrils over everything do run.

There it climbs a tree and there a wall.
Graces a house with chimney tall.
Makes a hedge along the garden edge,
Smelling sweeter than any flower or sedge.

It tumbles here,it clings on there,
Perfume floating in the crystal air.
What would a Caithness summer be,
If not the honeysuckle draped upon a tree?



There was just so much of my favourite wild flower around the county whilst north, joy to see.

I can just imagine it climbing over all the walls, the aroma wafting on the breeze.
Another Caithness favourite is the blue lupin , filling a little walled garden in front of an old croft... to me that was Caithness..

The sight and scent of honeysuckle, is a favourite one of mine
The fragrance is so heavenly, it's really quite divine!
