Blimey, you really have your hands full at the moment ! Good luck for your wedding day. As you know we were in a very similar position last year with our JR and we too found the whole situation daunting and stressful AND THAT WAS WITHOUT A WEDDING TO ORGANISE !!! Trust me it will work out and you are a total star to be doing all this for Penny. (And make sure your soon to be Other Half knows what a lucky bloke he is !!- If he's in any doubt there are a few people on this forum who will soon point him in the right direction !! ) Take care of yourself .

Aye Munron you better get a dress organised or North Tonight will be at your door because of the first nudist bride in Caithness Now there is publicity that you wouldn't want

Ha ha if he reads this he will expect his plaudits to, honestly he has been brilliant as have my family. Even my mate who said "well she looks like a tampon but I would still like to see her in a nice home" - she doesnt do small dogs!!!

I should say that I have ordered a dress of the internet, just hasnt come and will probably need a seamstress to adjust when i do get it - but heck there is nothing wrong with wearing a track suit!!!

Hi Munron. Have e mailed a contact on a dog forum asking her to read
your posting on DP re Penny . She has subsequently offered to help and also MAY know someone suitable re adopting Penny. The good thing about this is that all prospective adoptees are home checked and properly supported. Will pm you her contact details. She is very knowledgeable and will do all she can to help . Good Luck & fingers crossed !

Yep it is good news and the contact who has offered to help will do everything she can to try to find a suitable home for Penny and to offer advice and support to munron. But PLEASE we must not stop doing all we can to help munron -this is just one positive step forward and every option has to explored. There will be the right person out there for Penny, we just have to find them !

I am waiting for a phone call from Friends of the Animals in Wales!!! They said they have a place for her.

I will phone Chris as well when I know what I am doing - yesterday it was nothing but today it has kicked off. But that is a good thing really.

Well the lovely Bluebell and her daughter and their two dogs have just left, and we all agreed it was a successful first meet and greet. Bluebell has kindly offered to take Penny as a foster, in a few weeks for a few weeks, whilst I sort out wedding plans. We will meet up each week and see how it goes. Bluebell's dogs were off lead and Penny did not appear bothered by them at all, after a short initial bark session, which seemed to be more excitement than anything sinister. Penny socialised confidently in the house with Bluebell and her daughter, without being pushy.

I spoke to Chris at the rescue dousslesh recommended and the home they had in mind for Penny would not be suitable but she will be in contact with another rescue later. Chris did advise when we met up with Bluebell's dogs to take one of my own as Penny would see this as a security thing and I have to say it seemed to work a treat. Penny relaxed in their company and whilst she was not off lead we would be confident of trying that next time round.

So all in all I am very happy with my day, and Penny is now sound asleep in her bed shattered, but happy.

Thanks very much to Bluebell and family for making the trip over, I had a grand time.

Sounds as if Penny enjoyed meeting her new friends and will probably have a waggy tail when she sees them again..............Well done Munron and Bluebell........Penny will certainly find that happy home...there is no doubt....

I believe Friends of The Animals have offered a rescue place to Penny if Transport can be arranged ? We were fortunate to be able to adopt our little dog from FOA just before Christmas and they were able to arrange transport all the way from South Wales to Caithness, so it is possible ! They re home all over The UK and have experience in finding loving homes for ' difficult to place dogs ' IE poor health, Older dogs and dogs with specific needs.
Just wanted to say you can have complete confidence in FOA and that Eileen in particular is a lovely caring lady. FOA home check and have brilliant fosters who do a thorough assessment of the dogs needs. Things are definitely looking soooo good for you Penny !

I am so glad that Penny got on well with Bluebells doggies and that you had a nice day.

Here's hoping that something comes of Doussleh's contact.

I have to say with all the bad news we hear, it has been heartwarming to see people come together to help a poor wee dog who has had such a rough time.

I have to give a massive thumbs up to Bluebell as well for loading her family into the car and travelling to a complete strangers house all for the sake of little Penny. That dog has more friends than I do ha ha.

As for a job socialising, I think Penny herself deserves that one, I swear I dont think that I did anything apart from just let them get on with it and to be honest it helped that I was never scared of her. In the same sentence though I never totally trusted her - so maybe that combo helps.

I was alwas taught never to trust a dog no matter how loving and gentle they where and thankfully its left me "situation" free.
Even when the kids were wee and my old collie would let them ride him i knew when he'd had eneogh.

People can just be good with dogs and I think your one of them Munron.
