Default Radovan Karadzic - a prisoner at last

What a fantastic piece of news to hear that Radovan Karadzic has been captured at long last. I hope his sidekick general Mladic (not sure of spelling) is soon alongside him in jail.

It was heartbreaking to see the footage on the news again tonight of the men and boys being marched off to their deaths in Bosnia all those years ago and the mass graves being examined years later.

How could we have let this happen in the middle of Europe?

It's worse than I thought. He's been a practising homoeopath. Not only is he an indited war criminal, he's a quack.

A legal argument would be nice. As a registered seer at PSY Help Energy, I can tell you now that a "war of aggression" is not what you likely think it is. An actual example is Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait. Furthermore, a case for breach of international law requires proof of this, not necessarily an absence of a legal case approving the relevant action. Examples including Saddam Hussein's repeated flouting of binding UN resolutions from 1991-2003.

And certain Lancet reports are barking mad. And the invasion of Iraq was wrong.

Now, what does this have to do with arrest of the scumbag Karadzic?

Which practices that have been illegal that are now legal would you like to discuss. Btw, legal practices in the USA are in flux according to need.

I fail to see the point of your question. Are you not pleased to see RK captured and on his way to court?

The Balkan lot will never really reconcile themselves to living in harmony. On the surface the EU might bring some superficial unity and usher in a long spell of peace.
The ancient enmities of these different factions were sat upon and kept down for years by Tito and once he, and the yolk of communism had gone there was a free for all.

There is too much history going back seven or eight hundred years not to mention the scars of World War Two where savagery reigned supreme for a truly settled future.

That said I'm glad this geezer is in custody amd I hope they find Miladdo soon (can't spell his name) the timing is not coincidental..Serbia is ready for a new chapter and will be welcomed into the wonder of the EU....A great pity GB cannot make the room for them and dis-engage from this artificial friendly society which fleeces us on a regular basis.

I'd agree with you there, Percy.

Rather odd that after all this time certain members of the Serbian community have suddenly 'remembered' that the bloke who looks like Father Christmas may not be the real deal after all......

Could it be because suddenly it is more beneficial to the Serbs to dump their 'National Hero'?

I've just seen the latest pics of karadzic and i must say, he would have fooled me with his disguise
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

I agree with you rupert that it is great news that at last he has been caught. This evil scumback, who sent so many innocent people to their deaths, will hopefully rot in prison, slowly.

My mother's family still live in Croatia and I have many cousins who fought against the Serbs. They still bear the mental and physical scars to prove it. I have heard many stories from them of the Serb atrocities they witnessed. Even before the war I can recall the fear in my elderly grandmother's voice at the mention of the word Serbs.

The capture of Radovan Karadzic will not bring back the thousands who have died or erase the memories of those who lived through it. They have waited a long time to see him brought to justice. Here's hoping it won't be to long before Ratko Mladic follows him.
