Default Working hunter classes, Caithness Show

It's 3 years since I had the opportunity to go and photograph horses - didn't realise how much I'd missed it!

Nice series of shots - well done, great work

If I'm not mistaken James Gunn is in the background of your last shot!!

    What kit are you using?

    Thanks Deemac

I'm currently using a Canon EOS 300D and that was a Sigma 70-300mm lens. I've promised myself an upgrade when the money from my flat sale comes through, but I'm torn between some of the really good deals around on the 5D and waiting to see what Canon replaces it with, which is bound to be fantastic but probably triple the price!

I was in the same delema, but went for a 40D (which I'm very pleased with). I'd wait for the 5D mark2 (and also for the price to drop).

Yes, of course I think I've got another of him as well. PM me your email address and I'll send them over. Is he OK after his fall?

Thank you No more online - those were the best of the day, the others were just average so didn't bother uploading them to Flickr.

My sister-in-law has a 40D with two IS lenses and loves it, they're great cameras. I shall keep sitting on my hands, but if there's no announcement at Photokina (or whatever it's called) in September, then I may just cave in!

Here's some of my efforts taken with a Canon 40D (Sigma 135-400mm lens)

Great images of the show jumping.

    cazmanian_minx,
The Canon 5D is a great camera, used one for just over two years and the image quality is stunning. But do remember that if you go full frame you loose the 1.6 multiplication factor on focal length.
They are excellent buys secondhand, have a look at Ffordes,at Balblair, near Beauly, worth visiting if you are going to Inverness, but ensure you leave the Credit Cards and any cash at home before visiting!

or Mifsuds, more difficult to visit as they are in Brixham in Devon, great shop though.

The 5D will become a particularly good buy when it's replacement is released.
