    Default Childhood Memories

    The Big Burn

Up the Big Burn we did walk
crossing the bridges too and thro
In the Summer the Smell of wild garlic
    got us all
In the Autumn the Hazelnuts did fall
we would take a detour up to the Pond
and down again to the lovely Waterfall
    As like all childhood places
The Big Burn meant a lot to us all

The Back Road Wood and up by Rhives
Once a year to climb the Ben
The view from the top is quite Spectac
    picking out Counties far away
A lovely pastime on a Summer Day
    Its nice to be nice

    Holidays

On our Summer Holidays to Spittal
The Qaurries the Mill the Hill
The view to Morven on a nice day
Rowan trees with lots of Berries
Midgies galore taking home the peats
To Keep the Winters Fires going

The Halkirk Games was Summers Big Outing
or The County Show now and again
We went on John Allans Bus
who took us to the toons as well
Twice a week we had that outing
Once to Wick and then to Thurso
    Its nice to be nice
