Default Trout fishing on the Wick river

    Hi
I would like to teach my 11 year old son, (12 soon) fly fishing.

I have been told by a few people that while you cannot get a permit to fish the river for trout, you can fish it providing you use a rod no longer than 9', 4lb leader line or less and no bigger than size 12 trout flies.

    Is this true?

    Cheers

Hehe. That was his name when we got him. It came from him being a very nervous cat and when anyone came into the house he wasn't used to he'd "squidge" himself flat to the floor and sneak away. We just kept the name as he was used to it.

Thanks Golach. I have quite a bit to add to it, especially in the Funnies section.

YES YES YES !! Tidal water, gear as mentioned and no salmonoids !! Do not let them put you off. Rivers are there for us all. Old Scottish law allows us to fish for naturally stocked trout in tidal areas( up to water height marker at Bilbster).
