I wonder if the Venus was a good ship :-)
Two of my ggranduncles Alexander and John Budge left Liverpool on 24 April 1852 on board the "Garland" bound for Melbourne, Australia.
The master of the ship was Captain William Halcrow. This sounds a very Shetland name, and is also my mothers maiden name.
I wonder if Fred could look up his 1851 list to see if this man appears on it and if he is in fact a Shetlander .
Many thanks
Rosemary

Thank you so much for that. What a fund of information you have and much appreciated. Now I will see if William was any relation to my mothers family.
Thanks again
Rosemary
