Default Mural(s) on and next to the former music shop in Thurso

    Hello,

I was wondering if someone could do me a favour? I'm in the process of working out what sort of artwork to adorn the front and back cover of a CD I'm putting together. One of my hopes is to feature the abstract mural that is displayed above the former music shop in Thurso - and the mural just next to it above the arch (the one that looks like an early British Airways logo test design). Might anyone be able to take some photographs of both for me, please? I'd do it myself, but am 333 miles away and neither possess a snazzy camera like most peeps here. I'd be very grateful and would certainly credit the snapper on the CD cover. Here's hoping...

    Cheers,

    TPC*

Irene Clyne's (Wares) living room window has the best view of this mural. (She lives in the house opposite!!)

Won't this image also have copyright issues? They will have been designed by someone. I would recommend at least asking for their permission before getting the CD's produced.

I've been trying to find the name of the designer for some time. I believe he was Polish and a boyfriend/ husband(?) of Sir Archibald Sinclair's daughter or sister; I'm not certain. A book about Thurso lists his name but it's not an easy find. I have old pix of the mural and have Photoshopped them so they look different in colour/ slightly distorted etc. You should see the fun I've had with them - they look a cross between the front cover of a Socialist magazine or a poster advertising some Deconstructionism exhibition at a library. Either way, I am fully seeking permission to use the image. In fact, it would be my privilege to have the designer's name on the sleeve. It's a fantastic image that anyone growing up in Thurso or Caithness will easily remember. As I say, the different colours I've given it are quite something. When I get a chance I'll put them up. Meanwhile, many thanks for the images grumpyhippo - much appreciated.
