Great Pics of a Common seal.
I dont think it's necessary to keep the location of adult seals hush hush.
Most locals know where seals haul out in Caithness and besides they are a great tourist attraction.
I might add at this point that the First Grey Seal pup arrived dead on a beach in the SW England.
Caithness started seeing Grey Seal Pups in September last year so it would be a good time to remind dog walkers and ramblers to be alert to possible pups on some of our beaches.
It is important that pups are not approached or touched.
Last year the Caithness Marine Mammal Medics had to remove pups from beaches that had been adandoned by their mothers, most if not all died.
If you do see Grey Seal pup on a beach can you please e-mail the CMMM

In both these cases the pup was abandoned and died.
There is nothing wrong with taking pictures, but do it from a sensible distance.

These 2 have seen better days
The one with swollen lower bowel and hole in upper belly seems to have recovered and is still active after a week.
The other looks like he had a few rounds with someone bigger.

Aww.I just love seals.
We go to a beach and the seals watch us. As we move away they seem to move towards us.
Can't wait to go back. They might have pups!

I don't mind telling people where they are, they are after all wild animals and live the own lives regardless of people gawping at them through binos. But as a photographer I hesitate to give away the locations of all my photographs.

The benefit of having a telephoto lens is that you do not need to be near them to take pictures, and they don't get disturbed.

She was still in the same place, so i couldn't resist a pic.

But there is a serious side to my pics that is to monitor the health of the seals around the Caithness Coast.
Face injury.

I would have liked to have got closer for a better look at the injury.

The Grey Seals are having their annual gathering.
This seems to take place at the same location and same place each year.
There were over 75 seals in the Bay this morning.

Some bad news.
This little Grey Seal pup was also washed up with the tide.
So it seems some Grey Pups are early this year so please be alert when walking the beaches.

Came across this scene this morning. Of necessity it need a long lens from a long way away, therefore the quality is reduced, but the ooh aah factor is still there.

This is the first time i've seen these pictures and i have to say i am blown away by them, they are all excellent but i have to single out the one of the seals face close up, it is terrific in itself. I never tire of looking at pics of nature, whether it be her animals or her scenery. More please. Thank You.xx
