I saw this article in the online version of John O'Groat Journal:

A Caithness councillor wants "unequivocal answers" about the future of Thurso High after it emerged a second block at the school is being checked. ... ":

When I was a pupil there, in about 1974, there was a scare about a building material (high alumina concrete, I think) and one of the older blocks (I'm not sure if it is the one in the John O'Groat Journal article) was closed while work was carried out. I think first year pupils (at least) were sent home for a week or two and some classes were held in the assembly hall (the school roll was much higher then).

Are there any plans for a replacement building for the school? Wick got one a few years ago. Many newer schools (dating from 1960s and 1970s) in other parts of Scotland have been replaced.
