Thread: Old Thirsa Piccys

My parents moved to a new house in Morven Place on Christmas Eve 1957, and I remember the workmen building Castle Terrace later than that, probably about the same time as the shop.

    RE plastijocks' piccy
My wife grew up on Wilson St. She lived there from about 1950 until 1967 (when the lucky girl got to travel the world with me .) Anyway, she can’t remember the chimney that is shown in the picture. She thinks that it might have something to do with the old Coop bakery where she played as a child. We looked at the picture and at a good aerial view trying to work it out. No joy. She hopes somebody can identify it, cuz it’s making her daft.

Re the question of the chimney - although it seems distant from the gasometer I believe it was part of the gasworks.

Default And now for something a little bit different!

Thought I would put up some old shop receipts from my collection. I took the peoples names out from some of the receipts. I know they might not be the same interest as some of the photographs but thought it would be something different for a wee change! Hope you enjoy them as much as the photographs.
