National Whale & Dolphin Watch 2007.
The day got off to a reasonable start with Porpoise at Lybster first thing this morning.
Over in Thurso Kas had a much better luck.
She had her first Minke sighting of the season in Thurso Bay.
In actual fact Kas saw 3 species, Porpoise, unidentified Dolphins and the Minke.
I also received a call from Dave over at Whaligoe in Ulbster informing me that he had 3 unidentified cetaceans a goodway off shore but conditions were very poor.
The sea watch went ahead at Thurso Caravan Park as planned and a Porpoise was seen by 2 watchers.
Soon after, sea conditions deteriorated and it became more and more unlikely any more cetacean would be seen.
I would like to thank those watchers who turned out, and i hope we have better conditions tommorrow.
Considering the weather conditions nationally i think Caithness did better than most areas.
