Did anyone just hear a loud bang in the Bilbster to Watten area? Happened roughly 10 minutes ago. Really loud, felt it as well as heard it. 😮

Don't forget the military from several countries are playing war games in the north of Scotland - they get a little frisky or gungho sometimes and you hear unusual noises and very low flying aircraft of all types.

yes it was a sonic boom
there was another today (well 6th )far off coast north of wick
two aircraft were again flying around

they are military flight24 like sites that detail the flights and speeds.

both match their tracks recorded.

I was sailing out of New York Harbour, heading for Bermuda...800 miles offshore, quite a number of years ago, when the Concorde went overhead, leaving JFK airport. The bang that erupted, as it went thru the sound barrier, shook the boat, and we nearly lost our balance and our hearing!
Unbelievable! And it wasn't that high.
Mind you, it is quite a memorable experience nowadays as we age!
