    Contract type: 21 months fixed term
    Hours: Part time (21 hours per week)
    Salary: 30,000 per annum pro rata
    Responsible to: CVG Chief Officer
    Based: CVG offices in Wick

    Background:

    The post is funded by the Aspiring Communities Fund and is supported by the Scottish Government and European Social Fund (ESF). The Aspiring Communities Fund supports those in in our most deprived and fragile communities in the Highlands and Islands to develop and deliver long-term local solutions that address local priorities and needs, increase active inclusion and build on the assets of local communities to reduce poverty and to enable inclusive growth.

    Role Description:
    The post will support 2 Project Officers who will be working with communities in Caithness to develop a variety of projects. The post will also work with a Project Coordinator covering the Sutherland area to share information and learning. The main purpose of the role will be to support local action and activity to help reduce socio and economic disadvantage.
    The role will involve the line management and support of 2 Project Officers, developing individual work plans for them and monitoring them against the overall project milestones.
    Key Tasks:
    1. To manage delivery of the project milestones and outcomes, ensuring that there is strong evidence of activity and evaluation as part of that
    2. To line manage and support the Project Officers working in Caithness
    3. To create information and networking opportunities within the team and ensure best practice is shared
    4. To liaise with Aspiring Communities Fund colleagues to provide updates and reports to meet necessary funding requirements
    5. To manage the project budget, working in collaboration with the finance management processes within the organisation, ensuring competent financial management processes are followed
    6. To develop an online/digital knowledge exchange space for the third sector in Caithness and Sutherland
    7. To support the legacy planning processes for knowledge sharing at the end of the project period
    8. To work with the Sutherland Project Coordinator to share information and help organise events
    9. To undertake any other reasonable tasks that may be required as part of the post

    Job Specification:
    ESSENTIAL
    • Staff management and leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage others
    • Project management experience
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
    • Have at least three years’ experience of working within community development or a relevant sector
    • Self-starter, proactive and excellent organiser with the ability to work to project management level
    • Enthusiastic team player with the ability to be work well with others and on own initiative
    • A high standard of IT literacy and in particular Microsoft Office, e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook
    • Full, clean driving licence with access to own vehicle for business use

    Job Specification:
    DESIRABLE
    • Experience of partnership working
    • Ability to manage project budgets
    • Knowledge of the third sector in Highland
    • Knowledge of the Community Empowerment Act and how it related to Community Planning
    • Knowledge of digital communication including social media

    Closing date: Monday 1st June at 5pm.
    Interviews will take place week commencing 8th June 2020.
    Job start date: 1st July 2020

    The role will be based in the offices of Caithness Voluntary Group in Wick and may include a mixture of office and home working.
