Thread: Network disconnecting

    Default Network disconnecting

    Running vista, ( yes its all running fine no probs ) apart from when i leave the pc for any lenght of time and try to bring up a web page it wont load, network says i am connected to router and thats connected to web, i have to either reboot machine or disconnect then reconnect network.

    any ideas ?

    Hi Solus, off the top of my head I'd guess that you may have an issue with energy saving on the network adaptor.

    I'm not familiar with Vista, however if you get into Device Manager and view the properties of the network adaptor there may be a tab across the top related to power management. If there is, don't allow the device to turn off the device to save power. I'm making one or two guesses as I've not had my hands on Vista as yet but am aware that a number of things have been moved. If you have difficulty find device manager please advise and I can check into it or someone else here may be able to tell you promptly.

    Cheers, emb, I turned the power saving off, i also changed a setting on the router.

    So fingers crossed that when i leave now and go make a cuppa it will work.
