It seems that the Lib Dems have realised their campaign is a busted flush and that Jo Swinson is not going to be PM after all. But true to form they appear willing to abandon recent promises to get a sniff of power.

A couple of recent reports, from BBC Newsnight and Robert Peston (ITV), suggest that the Lib Dems have shifted their position on Brexit and appear willing to back Boris Johnson's deal in return for another referendum on the Uk's EU membership. The irony of this is not lost on voters in Scotland, of course, where the LDs continue to oppose moves to allow IndyRef II. Their hypocrisy really knows no bounds.

That last point aside it seems that the LDs are fairly sure the Tories are not going to get a working majority and that smaller parties may hold the balance of power. Never ones to miss out on a spot of glory hunting the LDs have spotted an opportunity. Their handful of newly elected MPs may suddenly find their parliamentary votes are in demand and can be sold to the highest bidder. In return for supporting Johnson's Brexit deal the LDs get some seats at the top table and perhaps even a bit part in any future coalition government.

Once again the LDs have shown that they are prepared to sell their souls to get a very small share of power.

If you don't want Brexit; don't vote Liberal Democrat.
