    Default Pothole damage to car

Has anyone claimed against the Council recently and, if so, is it necessary to claim on your own insurance first (as I've heard)?

Reporting potholes helps everyone. Do it in Highland at https://www.highland.gov.uk/info/200...96/road_faults

Yes. Google Highland Council Potholes and follow the links. Keep receipts and photos of pothole concerned. Also google Fixmystreet and if your pothole has already been reported this will strenghten you csae. HC attempt to payout on bona fide claims based on the age of your car and their assessment of whats reasonable...not the actual cost of repairs and inconvenience arising.

Best action. When you spot a pothole, rotate that round thing sticking out of the dash. If need be, release the pressure on that footrest under your right foot.
