The Position: Full time 37.5hrs per week, Monday - Friday

Salary: Up to 35k, dependant on experience

The Role
The Test Development Engineer will be responsible for design, manufacture, verification and validation along with through life technical support of board level, sub system level and system level test equipment for products within the Company.

Responsibilities

  • To design, build and commission custom functional test equipment to support our production manufacturing facility
  • Develop test equipment to meet the specified test requirements within scope, cost and schedule
  • Provide technical guidance on test equipment design
  • Provide support to the company and our customers in all aspects of test equipment design and manufacture
  • To use and develop tool and techniques to improve test equipment design processes
  • Supply Test Engineering input for Bid submissions
  • Provide fault finding service to support production, down to PCB component level
  • Assist in the diagnosis of customer return units


Desirable Knowledge, Skill and Experience


  • In-depth hardware and applicable test related software design engineering experience
  • Proven ability in the hardware design of test equipment such as:

Switched Mode PSU's from W to KW
High speed serial and parallel communication interfaces
FPGA, DSP
Precision Analogue A/D and D/A convertors
Small signal analogue measurement techniques


  • Proven ability in software design of test equipment using languages/tools such as:

Labview
Test Stand
C#

  • Problem Analysis and resolution
  • Use of PLC's and PIC micro-controller

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage own workload to prioritise daily tasks
  • Capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Driven to meet objectives with a focus on quality and delivery
  • Diligent and motivated in approach to testing and documentation


Other

  • Full time position based in Thurso with occasional travel
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
