    Default Halloween and turnip lanterns

Halloween is almost here, pumpkins seem to be the lanterns of choice these days, who can remember turnip lanterns with a candle flickering inside? When I was young, due to the Caithness winds I used to use a small torch in place of the candle.

Turnip lanterns and guising have been replaced by pumpkin lanterns and Trick or Treat. Whatever America does we seem to have to copy. Of course, pumpkins are much easier to hollow out.

Nice lanterns, by the way, ecb

Some beautiful neep lanterns. I've a lot of practice to go before I can do one of these! Click image for larger version.
