    any good places to pick wilks from in or near caithness?

    Many of the rocky foreshores have whelks eg Staxigoe, Ackergill, Keiss and so on round the County but you have missed the optimum times. The spring and autumn plankton outbursts are prime times, as a rule the months with an "R" in them are best, good hunting

    The foreshore at Dounreay hasn't been picked for ages.

    Ham harbour (in the wall itself) was very good a few years ago, got a lot of really big ones there.
