    Default "Ban super trawlers from fishing in UK waters. " petition

    I noticed this petition on the "UK Government and Parliament" petitions website:

    "Ban super trawlers from fishing in UK waters. "

    https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/276308/

    Perhaps some of you would like to sign it.

    Or we could just leave the EU and take control of our waters? We could then make our own laws about quotas, days at sea, sizes of boats, etc.

    you're out on a limb there really. these trawlers have the rights to fish in our waters and have bought many fishermens permits allowing them to do so. Only last week one was boarded and all their paperwork and their catch were pefectly in order so not much can be done about it.

    Och, that's no bother to deal with. Just follow the example of the remoaners, when faced with something you don't like. Call for its revocation! We could even pre-write the text of the letter that would have to be sent. It would go something like;

    Dear Spanish Fishing Boat Owner,

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we have changed our mind and decided to revoke your fishing permit. We know this will come as a shock and disappointment to you, but that's how we do politics in this country these days. Before you go running to the courts, we have been there already, so don't waste your time. We didn't quite get the answer we wanted at the first court we went to, so we just kept going up and up until someone said what we wanted.

    But dont worry, we have consulted with our shadow home secretary, who has kindly agreed to run the maths on this for you. Having received a detailed report on fish stocks in Spanish waters, chewed her pencil down to a stump and baffled a few political pundits, she has come to the conclusion that "there are plenty more fish in the (Spanish) sea".

    Yours sincerely

    Sir Nigel Farage, PM of the independent United Kingdom of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
