    FULL-TIME 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK
    Salary 22,440- 29,034 (plus on-call)


    Applications are invited from HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists. Experience of working in a routine Blood Sciences department would be an advantage although Registered Biomedical Scientists having worked in either Haematology/Transfusion or Biochemistry will be considered and appropriate training delivered. The ability to work under pressure, a desire to learn new skills in all areas of Blood Sciences, and good communication skills are essential attributes.
    The department is spread across three acute hospital sites at Fort William (Belford Hospital), Inverness (Raigmore Hospital) and Wick (Caithness General Hospital). It provides a diagnostic Blood Sciences service to a population of approximately 240,000 people in NHS Highland and receives in excess of 430,000 requests annually. Although this post is based at Caithness General Hospital, during training you will be required to spend some time at the other sites.
    The laboratory at Caithness General Hospital is fully automated with 2 x ADVIA 2120i’s, 2 Advia 1200's,1 Centaur CP, 1 Werfen Top 500 coagulation analysers. Transfusion uses the Diamed card system.
    The department has CPA accreditation is working towards UKAS accreditation.
    Participation in CPD activities is required and progression to attaining higher qualifications such as the Biomedical Science Diploma is encouraged.

    The successful applicant will be expected to rotate through all areas of the laboratory, often without direct supervision, and participate in the non-residential on-call service paid at the national framework rate.
    Relocation assistance may be offered to the successful candidate.

    This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week, plus on-call. Job-share candidates will also be considered.
