Default Change of heating and new boiler

Anybody changed their central heating system recently, we currently have oil central heating plus coal fire but as boiler is over 10 years old and massive want to change. Looking for ideas, already been told we don't qualify for any grant etc as nobody in house on benefits.

We are outside town so not sure what is available.

Outside town the oil is probably still the most common option but LPG is an option (currently dearer). A new oil boiler would probably be smaller and more efficient than your current one.

Air source is possibly an option but expensive to install. It might also not be hot enough to heat your house without changing your old radiators - more cost/hassle. Ground source might work depending on your land too. You would get an annual return of £700 or so for these heat pumps though.

Wood burning/biomass more popular nowadays too but a bit harder work than the other methods.
