HIGHLAND MPS have thanked emergency service and security who kept them safe during a suspected terrorist attack in central London. All three of the region's representatives were at Westminster on Wednesday, when four people were killed, including the male attacker and 40 were injured.

DAY care in Caithness is set to change after Alzheimer Scotland admitted it is finding delivery of services in Wick and Thurso "challenging". The organisation is no longer to provide day care services at the Couthie corner in Thurso and the Longberry unit at Pulteney \House in Wick, as from the end of next month.

A CAITHNESS councillor yesterday insisted the fire service made "a blunder" in responding to an incident in a Thurso garage. Local Highland councillor Donnie Mackay made the accusation after getting a letter from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service assistant chief officer Lewis Ramsay who investigated the claim.

A LOCAL couple with a passion for first aid, are launching a free, new parents postnatal course in the skill for the county. Elspeth and Justin Hall have more than half a century of first aid experience between them and ever since they moved to Bower, more than a year ago, the have been looking for ways to help people.

THE success of the MeyGen tidal energy project off the Caithness coast, has been a factor in parent company Atlantis Resources Ltd wanting to move into the industry in France. Atlantis has signed a co-operation agreement with French specialist marine engineering company Innosea, whose headquarters are in France.

FARMERS and crofters across Caithness are poised for one of the biggest seasonal agricultural operations of the year, as thousands of ewes give birth to thousands more lambs. Some smaller units are already well under way though lambing is still some time away for hill flocks.
