Thirty months for accused who tried to hi-jack car

A MAN who attempted to hi-jack a woman's car and violently resisted police who arrested him,was jailed for thirty months at Wick Sheriff Court today.
Donald McPhee, 30, was said to have been under the influence of a cocktail of drink and drugs at the time.
He previously denied charges of attempted robbery, assault and threatening or abusive behaviour but was found guilty by a jury.
McPhee struggled with Sonya Paul as she was leaving her car at Riverside Wick in October last year and eventually wrenched the ignition keys from her and ran away.
McPhee was located in the town's Bridge Street, by police officers who described his demeanour as wild and deranged. He punched officers and reinforcements were required to detain him.
