Wick man to stand trial before a jury

A WICK man is to stand trial at the town's sheriff court next month on a serious assault charge.
Corey Barnetson, 21, pleads not guilty.
The indictment alleges he repeatedly struck Ewan MacDonald on his head and body with a pole or similar implement, knocked him to the ground and repeatedly kicked him to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement and impairment.
The incident is said to have occurred at 56 Kennedy Terrace, Wick on March 21, last year.
Barnetson, of 37 Kinnaird Street, Wick, will return to court for his trial on February 2.
