Teen behaved "like a complete beast" says sheriff

A THURSO teenager has been jailed for six months and banned from Caithness for an assault on his then girlfriend and threatening or abusive behaviour towards the police.
Aaron Harrison, was said to have pursued his then woman in Scrabster Road and Smith Terrace, Thurso and caused her to fall, knelt over her and repeatedly punched her. Later at Thurso police station, the 18-year-old swore and threatened violence to two officers. The accused was living in Springpark Terrace, at the time.
In a separate case he admitted failing to stop after an accident in Dempster Street, Wick on February 24 and having neither licence or insurance Wick Sheriff Court was told.
Sentencing Harrison, said to have since moved to Bradford, Sheriff Andrew Berry said that the accused had turned up at the woman's house and made "a complete beast of himself" pursued her in into a public place and then went on to inflict "outrageous abuse" on the police.
Commenting on Harrison's record, the sheriff observed it included convictions in England and Scotland as well as failure to comply with court order and repeated offending in Caithness. and added that a custodial sentence was the only appropriate sentence which was backdated to December 19.
Commenting on the road traffic offences, Sheriff Berry imposed a good behaviour bond for a year and disqualified him from driving for nine months. Harrison is also banned from Caithness.
