A DRIVER has been accused of speeding at 120mph.
John Taylor, 25, pleaded not guilty at Wick Sheriff Court yesterday and will stand trial on April 25.
The offence is alleged to have occurred on the Hempriggs straight of the A99 near Wick, on March 25, last year where a 60 mph speed limit is in force. Taylor, of 116 Willowbank, Wick, also denies having no insurance.
In a separate case, a Ross-shire van driver was clocked at a speed of 71 mph.
Charles Mackie, 36, pleaded guilty to breaking the 50 mph limit for commercial vehicles on the A9 where it skirts Loch Rangag in Caithness, on October 29, last year.
Mackie, of Fettes Farm House, Killearnan, was fined £320 and incurred six penalty points.
